Italy was at the third stage of virus transmission. Meaning, the virus was being transmitted from one person to another. Every individual who came in contact with the infected person was at risk, therefore, quarantined for 14 days. People were confined to their homes, social gatherings, schools, parks, theaters, restaurants were shut down. Residents had to show forms issued by the government, filled with a good reason to leave their homes. Hospitals were overwhelmed with patients. Doctors were working more than 16-18 hours a day. The death rate was spiking. Doctors had to decide to help patients based on their survival rate. The maximum number of deaths was among the elders and people with pre-existing health conditions. All the socializing was limited to everyone’s balcony. Videos of Italians singing, dancing on their balconies was all over social media. Other countries took lessons from Italy’s situation to protect their own people.
