The Thar Desert is the world’s 18th largest desert and of course, the biggest in India. It is spread across a few states in India, with a major chunk lying in west Rajasthan. There is sparse vegetation in the area and the climate is very dry and hot. The only colours you will find in this area are shades of brown, and green. There are a single lane road and a few houses along with it, all built in traditional Rajasthani style.
Most of the campsites in the desert are situated all within 2 kilometres to 3 kilometres of radius. You can choose to stay in a normal tent or a luxury tent in the desert of Jaisalmer. You can opt for any desert Safari tours or a desert camp to gain the best experience of desert camping.
You can witness an amazing sunset and spend a night close to the sand dunes, which can turn out to be one of the most amazing experiences of all times. The sky is bathed in hues that create a canvas of beautiful colours in the sky. The campers are treated with bonfires and bonding sessions. The fire feels so cosy that taking a single step away from it feels like you have stepped into a freezer.
We will advise you to tag along with small or large groups, even if you are camping solo, so that you don’t miss out on group activities.
A night of camping in the desert of Jaisalmer will not cost you more than INR 1400 to INR 1500, depending on what package you opt for. Make sure to check what is included in each package and choose on the basis of how you want to camp and what your requirements are.
