Kandy Lake

Kandy Lake is the most reposeful place in the city. Kandy Lake is covered with rainforests emerging slowly into the clear vast lake. It is perfect for a romantic stroll with your partner, re-exploring romance and discussing life within nature’s embrace. There are a lot of people who meditate using chants and listening to those is just going to calm away your troubles. There is some delicious food which is served in the lake-view restaurants of Kandy Lake. The Kandy lake offers a boat ride around the city as well that you can take to experience the city better.

Temple of the Tooth

This grand and beautiful white temple of the tooth also known as Dalada Maligawa is the reason why Kandy is called the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Inside the temple is the Buddhist tooth which is considered to be extremely holy because it’s the place where all of Buddha’s teachings were passed touching the tooth. It’s been in this place for over 300 years. It is the most important pilgrimage site in the entire country. Pilgrims come here from across the country to pay their homage to Lord Buddha.

Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

The most fun activity one can do in this cultural city is the Elephant ride that Kandy offers in its Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. If you arrive at around 1 pm, then you can spectate the bathing of huge giant elephants.  They also let you play, ride and feed the elephant. These elephants are well trained and are not wild or violent in nature. A perfect fun activity to do in Kandy city.
